Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it. I strongly agree with this statement as people should respect the law and it is their duty to understand and obey it, in case if they are not aware of a certain law they should inquire about it, if they really feel they might deal with it later on.
It mostly happens on the airport that people carry items, which are forbidden, and then they say that they did not know. However, this not an excuse as it is clearly mentioned at the airport as to which item is forbidden. The real fact is that people want to stay unaware of the law, so that they can have an excuse after breaking it. Ignorance is a lame excuse, it is just used to end a conversation when one knows he is wrong and he is not really ready to admit it.
How many times have we seen people explaining themselves after breaking a law, usually the excuses are that I did not know that the light was red, I did not see the sign so I was unaware that a U-turn was not allowed or I was unaware of the speed limit. If these people where on the other side, listening to their own excuse even they themselves will not buy them. Therefore, it is important to think before you act. To say you did not know is not an explanation for anything; leave away the fact of giving it after breaking a law.
